UPCOMING EVENTS/FUND RAISERS

 The Eight Annual Moriah Dinner and Auction is planned for Saturday, September 12, 2009, 6 p.m. at the Goose Pond Civic Center, Scottsboro, Alabama.   Please put this date on your calendar and plan to come out for an evening of fun, fellowship and shopping to support the Moriah Home.  

The meal is a Bar-B-Q plate from Porkys. In addition to the meal there will be entertainment, door prizes and a silent and live auction. June Kennamer will be the auctioneer and is an entertainment act of her own.  She is wonderful and has a great talent for getting folks to let go of their  dollars for a good cause - so come prepared with cash or your check book!!!

There will be a great selection of auction items and we expect this year to be “bigger and better” than ever. Tickets are $20.00 each and are available from the Moriah Home, the Moriah Closet, Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, Scottsboro or call Mary Ann 256 259-6397

The Seventh Annual Dinner and Auction in 2008 was a great success, resulting in over $8,000.00 profit for the home.  Help us break that record this year. This is the annul fundraiser for the Home and is very important in helping reach the operation and maintenance budget for the home.  

In addition the home has had an on-going fund raising effort for over a year with a slogan  “If many would give 10 or 20 that would be plenty”.  This has resulted in several individuals making a commitment of amounts ranging from $10.00 a month to 50.00 a month.  Would you become a monthly partner for any amount?    Your gifts make a difference in the lives of children.   Please contact the Director for more information or mail your donation to Moriah Children’s Home, P.O. Box 58, Dutton, Alabama 35744.  Gifts are tax deductible.   

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL OFFERINGS: Several churches have donated their VBS offering to the Moriah Home in the past and we are hoping that you will continue to do so.  These offerings always touch our hearts because it is “children helping children” and are a special blessing.   

Children’s Church groups also donate to the home and are another example of children learning early to share with those less fortunate.  Thank you for blessing us with these gifts.  

VACATION FOR THE GIRLS FUND:  A great big thank you to all who donated, worked, baked, cooked, served, sang, entertained and helped in anyway for the April 2009 fund raiser sponsored by the house parents and girls to raise money for a trip to the beach in 2009 – the girls have never seen the ocean!   There were no vacation funds in the Moriah Home Budget so the house parents and girls were willing to work to make a trip to the beach possible.  They earned it and we all wish them a safe, wonderful, fun time.
